Andrew Payne is a RI licensed Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and a nationally board certified Chinese herbalist. He holds a dual Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and Chinese Herbal Medicine from New England School of Acupuncture at MCPHS. Dr. Andy is also licensed to practice in Massachusetts.
Andy first experienced acupuncture in his 20’s, as a patient with significant chronic knee pain. Acupuncture gave him great relief before and after multiple surgeries. Now in his own practice, he helps clients not only with pain, but with a wide range of diagnoses and concerns: arthritis, migraines, digestion issues, reproductive issues, insomnia, depression, neurological disorders, addiction and more.
Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and other TCM modalities work hand-in-hand with Western medicine to bring balance and health to the body. Dr. Andy customizes every appointment based on his patients' diagnosis, health goals and progress since their last appointment. He incorporates Moxibustion (including Ontake), electro-acupuncture, cupping, and Tui Na (Chinese massage) into treatments as needed. Andy's professional studies are ongoing, and include classes and workshops on new developments and emerging research in TCM theory and practice, to better serve his clients in their pursuit of wellness. He also studies Tai Chi and Qi Gong with Marcus Gardner of West Side Tai Chi Club.
Andy is the father of two boys, an artist, and a woodworker. In his free time he works on renovation projects in the West End Victorian he shares with his partner and a menagerie of dogs, cats, chickens, doves and fish. Community connection is important to Andy, and he has built several "little free libraries", a sidewalk art gallery, and a climbing structure to share with his neighbors. He has been a percussionist most of his life, and has played in numerous bands in the Boston area over the years. He's currently a member of The Bag Family Band, a bluegrass and Americana band based in Boston.

Here's what some of Dr. Andy's clients have to say about working with him:
Dr. Payne is an incredible acupuncture practitioner! From the very first session, he understood and identified the underlying pain trauma in my back and created a tailored approach to allow me to heal. I vividly remember emerging from the first full session overwhelmed with emotion and free of pain that had been impacting me for over 10 years. Aside from the treatments, Dr. Payne was also very conscious of following up with me to make sure I retained healthy habits and continued to improve my wellbeing. I would absolutely recommend his services!

Every time I see Dr. Andy I feel so much better walking out than when I walked in. I have a bad back and a lot of body pain and Andy fixes me right up so I feel like a million bucks after. And it lasts, which is something I don't experience with other wellness doctors. Not sure how he does it but he's magic!
